Kamli — The Beginning

A delicate, monochromatic drawing depicts a group of women in saris wading into the ocean, their backs to the viewer, creating a sense of serenity and communal experience.

There’s a moment in every woman’s life when she realises she cannot keep shrinking to fit the rooms she’s outgrown. For me, that moment was less of a spark and more of a slow, steady burn, the kind that begins in the chest, passes through ancestry, and settles in the bones.

Kamli World was born from that burn.

A space held together by the stories we inherit, the women who raised us, and the fire we build in ourselves. A space for the South Asian girl who grew up between cultures, between expectations, between “good girl” and “be your own woman.” A space for the immigrant daughter who had to learn everything twice, once the desi way, once the Western way, and still found a way to be soft.

I created Kamli because women need each other.

Not in a surface-level, motivational-quote way… but in the ancient way. The way our grandmothers relied on courtyards and choruses of aunties. The way we share secrets in the kitchen while the chai boils over. The way we braid each other’s hair and futures at the same time.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

When women stand together, they don’t just survive, they build worlds.
And when they protect each other, those worlds become unbreakable.

This first piece is not a lesson; it’s a vow.
I’ve always had a community, and I have always prioritised it, because nothing grows a woman like another woman’s belief in her.

Kamli World is my offering.
A home for our stories, our courage, our becoming. A place where we don’t apologise for being too much, too loud, too emotional, too ambitious, too anything.

This is only the introduction.
But if you’re reading this, you’re already part of the story.

Welcome to Kamli World.
Where we gather.
Where we grow.
Where we rise, together.
